Description

Grown in rich volcanic rocky soils, the yellow Catuai varietal thrives where others cannot.  Additionally, the elevation (over a mile high), contributes to slow the development of the beans as a positive attribute for a varietal that is known for its heavy, dense beans. Coffee farm Finca El Misterio continues to impress with great harvests of 3 different varietals of excellent quality in recent years with this coffee being only of the Yellow Catuai varietal.

Flavors of citrus are right up front with, grapefruit meets tart orange, and mild floral noted create a well balanced cup with a very mild but pleasant rich unsweet chocolate bitterness through much of each sip that does not linger. Earthy hazelnut notes become present as the coffee cools just a few degrees.
