Description

Swiss Water decaffeination process when introduced in the early 1980s was the first decaffeination process to not use solvents or chemicals to remove the caffeine, simply using a diffusion and osmosis process to remove the caffeine in a water bath with charcoal filters.  Though there are a few other chemical free decaffeination processes, Swiss Water process has remained the gold standard in the industry and is the only type of decaf we will carry for our customers.

This specific coffee is a natural process Colombian blend of Colombia, Castillo and Catura varietals.  It roasts beautifully and is a coffee that our roaster loves working with as he finds it rewarding pulling a great profile from a decaffeinated (small challenge), green blended coffee (a bigger challenge).  You’ll find most decaffeinated coffees roasted on the darker end of the scale to hide some flavors that present themselves when others are stripped away in the decaffeinating processes.  We don’t think it’s necessary for this coffee at all and we present this bean roasted on the lighter side of medium.

In the cup flavors of a mild nuttiness, mild cocoa and subtle honey in a well balanced, smooth package.
