Description
The Bungoma region of Kenya is becoming an important part of the Kenyan coffee farming community. Rich volcanic soils at the base of Mt. Elgon in the central highlands produce unique growing conditions for both Kenya on its eastern side as well as the burgeoning Uganda specialty coffee industry on its western side. This specific coffee lot is from the Kimama Farmers Cooperative in Chwele with processing on site and grading done by Taylor Winch Limited in Nairobi prior to export.
In the cup, big and complex flavors with a bright character finish. Mouthfeel is medium to light body. Citrus notes meet berries with a nutty, carmelized sugar flavor throughout. A light tart cherry flavor comes through as the coffee cools slightly. It ends with a light dry wine-like finish that is typical of high altitude Kenyan coffees.
